At The Stevens Standard Inc., cleanliness, sanitation, and client safety are a top priority. We adhere to strict cleaning and disinfection protocols to maintain a safe, hygienic, and professional studio environment for every client.
1. Studio & Workstation Sanitation
— All workstations are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected before and after each client.
— Surfaces including desks, arm rests, lamps, chairs, and equipment stands are wiped with approved hospital-grade disinfectants.
— Floors, common areas, and high-touch surfaces are cleaned and disinfected daily.
— Hand sanitizer is available for client use upon arrival.
2. Hand Hygiene
— Hands are washed and sanitized by the technician before and after every service.
— Clients are asked to sanitize or wash their hands prior to the start of their appointment.
— Gloves are worn when required and changed between clients.
— Before the appointment begins, hands are sprayed with 70% isopropyl alcohol as this is the most effective way to kill bacteria.
3. Tool Cleaning & Disinfection (Non-Porous Tools)
All reusable, non-porous tools (including but not limited to nail clippers, cuticle pushers, nippers, and metal implements) undergo the following multi-step process after each client:

Cleaning
Tools are washed with soap and warm water to remove visible debris. -
Disinfection step 1
Tools are fully immersed in a hospital-grade approved disinfectant solution for the manufacturer-recommended time. -
Disinfection strep 2
The tools & solution are put in an ultrasonic cleaning machine that contain UV light for a further thorough clean according to the manufacturer-recommended time. -
Drying
Disinfected tools are rinsed (if required), and left to dry on an open drying wrack for further treatment. -
Dry Heat Sterilization
Disinfected tools are placed into a sealed sterilization pouches and inserted into a high-heat sterilizing machine for the manufacturer-recommended time. -
Storage
Sterilized pouches are stored in a clean, closed, and sanitary container until use.
4. Single-Use & Disposable Items
— Single-use items such as nail files, buffers, wooden sticks, lint-free wipes, and sanding bands are never reused.
— These items are either disposed of after each client or, where applicable, offered to the client to take home.
— Any item that cannot be properly disinfected is strictly single-use.
5. Electric Files & Equipment
— E-file handpieces are disinfected between each client.
— Removable bits are cleaned and disinfected following professional standards after every use.
— Equipment is regularly inspected and cleaned to ensure proper functioning and hygiene.
6. Product & Bottle Sanitation
— Product containers, pump bottles, and palettes are sanitized regularly.
— No double-dipping occurs. Product is dispensed using clean tools or disposable applicators.
— Brushes are cleaned and disinfected between clients where applicable.
7. Linen & Towels
— All towels, linens, and reusable fabrics are laundered after each use using hot water and appropriate detergents.
— Clean linens are stored separately from used items.
8. Client Health & Safety
— Services may be refused or modified if signs of infection, open wounds, or contagious conditions are present.
— Clients are encouraged to disclose any nail, skin, or health concerns prior to their appointment.
— The studio maintains a no-judgment, safety-first approach to client care.
9. Ongoing Standards
— Disinfection protocols are reviewed and updated regularly.
— We follow manufacturer instructions, professional education standards, and local Fraser Health Authority's guidelines recommendations. Link below.
